HOTEL PICO BLANCO
http://facebook.com/PicoBlancoInn • http://PicoBlancoInn.com • 2-289-6197 • 2-228-1908 LOCATED: WAYYYY up in the mountains of ESCAZU in the little pueblo of San Antonio I think the elevation is around 5,000 feet!! Which gives you THE MOST INCREDIBLE VIEWS of the WHOLE Central Valley for miles & miles!! (making it a great place to watch fireworks from)!!!! Home to MY FAVORITE place to go for JUICY Barbecue RIBS•Costillas (big fatty WET & messy pork ribs!!) The BEST place to go to catch the view or hotel with a view (albeit rusticy - but what do you expect for $40 & $70/n [+13% tax - if you want to go stay there, please let me make the reservation for you or tell them Vicki Connected you])!!!! The view makes it the BEST place to watch fireworks from also (unfortunately the restaurant is closed on New Years Eve - but if you have a room there you can see it from your bed or balcony or a few other areas!!!). (also home to Vicki from July '11 to Jan. '12 in the sweet little Cottage•Cabina on the grounds which I SOOOO MISS [alas - the cabina had bad cell & internet connection which are CRUCIAL to me!!]. EVERYONE was SOOOO SWEET there!!!). You want a Restaurant, Bar or Hotel with INCREDIBLE VIEWS & withOUT the high prices??? Or for a ROMANTIC interlude???!!! HOTEL PICO BLANCO might be the perfect place for you!!! Located about 5,000 feet above the mountains of SAN ANTONIO de ESCAZU - this PEACEFUL piece of paradise surrounds you with spectacular GREEN MOUNTAINS & one of THE BEST VIEWS of the WHOLE Central Valley below!!! The RESTAURANT is only open for Breakfast Daily from 8-10am & Dinner Mon.-Thurs. 4-10pm & Fri. & Sat. 4pm-mid. (though they close early sometimes if no one's there/buying of course. Trust me - stick with my FAVS - Bbque Ribs, Steak & Chicken! I REALLY like the Salad [veges are frozen. Breakfast is quite pricey for not much food. You come to eat here for the view & ambience!!!]). PHONE: Note that there is no phone in the room & cell reception can be a bit iffy from within the rooms (heck - that can be an issue throughout Costa Rica!!). Also - WiFi is ONLY in the Common Main areas (lobby, restaurants & bar. Every time I've used it it was GREAT!!). OTHER SERVICES: LUCIA gives AWESOME Reflexology THE VILLAGE OF SAN ANTONIO DE ESCAZU The village of San Antonio de Escazu is home to one of the most famous Festivals - a tribute to the Boyero/Farmer & Oxcart - held the 2nd Saturday & Sunday in March! Farmers come from miles around with their beautifully decorated oxcarts & this basically 4 block long center is transformed into a place where you get a REAL feel of life in Costa Rica. It's also home to one of MY/Vicki's FAVORITE pieces of art - a nearly one block long hand carved wall - tribute to the Boyero located on the other side of the wall across from where Cerro's Pizza USED to be - at the Soccer Field - though you enter it on the side street - across the street from the catholic church! For more pictures of San Antonio de Escazu - go to -
http://SarongGoddess.com/Travel/Escazu-SanAntonio There's even a trail above for you to hike around or go further up the hill to one of the most MAGICAL places in the Central Valley to hike where within a 2 or so hour hike you come upon a waterfall!! DIRECTIONS to PICO BLANCO (it can be a bit tricky!) Get off Pista del Sol at the WalMart exit (if coming from San Jose – it’s the first exit. If coming from the West - East-bound – it’s the 2nd exit after the toll plaza – the exit at the back of WalMart). Go straight up that street – passing 3 lights (1st light – where you’d turn into Walmart/Tony Romas. 2nd light – just past TGIF/Chocolate___. 3rd light – just after McDonald’s/KFC). At the 4th light – the “Scotia Split”/Cruz” (at Scotia Bank/Banco) you want to stay in the left lane – going straight up the hill. Pass Plaza Atlantis/Automercado (on the left) & El Novillo Allegre (on the right). At ChiChi's Bar - TURN LEFT. (it's a small one-way street running behind Riverside Condominiums - sort of hidden behind a big tree - on your Left so keep your eyes open) Go up to the end of that block (1 block) & at the stop sign where you must turn left or right & TURN LEFT. Then IMMEDIATELY - TURN RIGHT - & go up the street (look for/follow the signs). Go up – up – up the road till you come to a split in the road to the big green wall (on your left) – TURN LEFT there & follow that street – up – up – up. When you come to the stop sign (in front of you will be a sign for the Recycle center [in Spanish]) – TURN LEFT. Cross over the little bridge one block to the end & TURN RIGHT (there will be signs here saying “Hotel [or Mirador] Pico Blanco” guiding you there). Go up – up – up the mountain till you see the signs with an arrow saying “Hotel Pico Blanco” & turn LEFT into the driveway. Follow the BAD driveway up the hill towards the hotel – first it veers to the right, then veers to the left & keep going up towards the hotel. On your left you’ll first see a 2-story white apartment building with a 2-car open carport, then a sign that says “Hotel Pico Blanco” & an open iron gate & then another 2-car open carport & a big black garage door - keep going UP - all the way to the end to the parking lot & Hotel! IF the parking lot is full at the top, where that "Pico Blanco" Sign was at the 2-story apartments - there's a side street. Turn Right there & follow that up to the BIG parking lot at the top & I'll add some signs directing you. Please let me help coordinate your stay at Hotel Pico Blanco (or at least tell them Vicki Connected you [I lived in one of the Cottage/Cabina there for 6 months from July-Jan., 2012 & give EVERYONE a HUG for me!! I MISS that place but come back for gatherings & will probably have my Gemini Birthday Party there Saturday June 9!!]). 1-941-312-7569 (from U.S.) • Skype: VallartaVicki • (506) 8-378-6679 (from within Costa Rica [the #s after 506) .
