St. PATRICK'S DAY at the PUB - Escazu
THE PUB

This cozy hole in the wall watering pub has lots more Ticos these days than the old expat scene but I've found many of them speak some English! They have a GOOD menu with LOTS of variety including Pub Grub, REALLY GOOD BURGERS & TASTY WINGS, Homemade CHEESE STEAKS as well as some of my FAV Weekend SPECIALS (below)!! They even make Canadian POUTINE (french fries with cheese & brown gravy). EVERYTHING I’ve had (or others with me) there has been REALLY GOOD & GOOD QUALITY!! It is smokey (it’s a bar) but for Ms. MEGA ANTI-smoker here – for me to “suffer through it” – you KNOW the food’s GOTTA be REALLY GOOD!!!
HOLIDAYS - in the past they've done: St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) – Corned Beef & Cabbage, Potatoes. Also Rueben Sandwich & Green Beers/Irish Drink Specials (in the past they had one of the cheapest CB&C specials). HALLOWEEN, NEW YEARS.
OWNERS: Gary & Nadine are no longer in CR..
NIGHTLY SPECIALS:
Fri. & Sat. (till they run out) - British-style FISH & CHIPS (though it’s made with talapia but they have the GOOD “chips”/THICK fries!!!)!! The BEST I've found so far in CR – 4,700!!
Sun. - ARGENTINIAN GRILL!!! - Flamed grilled!! I had a PERFECTLY cooked & seasoned STEAK (Beef Tenderloin) for JUST 7,500-c/$15!! Pork Chop 4,800, Chicken Breast 6,200, Mixed Grill 9,200, T-Bone (priced that day)!!!! It comes with GOOD size Salad, GOOD size Baked Potato & a Chimichurri sauce to dip the GOOD bread & pour all over your meat & potatoes (oh – that’s what I do!!).
HAPPY HOUR: Sat.-Thurs. 6-8pm - 2 pitchers 6,900-c or 1 mug 850-c. 2x1 Shots on Jose Cuervo, Bacardi, Smirnoff, Fluer de Cana 5 Year, & Ron Centenario & Johnny Walker Red & Guaro (Tico’s version of moonshine kinda).
HOURS: Daily 3pm?-2am.
LOCATION: Escazu (Centro) - up the Hill from the Scotia Split heading towards Escazu (Centro). When you get to the place where you MUST turn Right because it turns into a one-way street (I’ve never noticed a notice that’s it’s one-way) the road curves – go RIGHT – it’s RIGHT THERE on your RIGHT (look for the BIG green Heineken awning & "THE PUB" sign
