Roads, Highways, Pistas in CR
A big Transfer Point for Grayline Shuttles (in front) & Interbus (Interbus parks in the back) traveling on "Carretera" (highway) InterAmericana Norte • Highway #1 in Guanacaste is at the Cruce al Punte de La Amistad (intersection) where you can cut off to head towards the Nicoya Peninsula in Limonal de Abangares ak (GPS Coordinates - 10° 14' 0" North, 85° 1' 0" West).
If you're on a shuttle, here you usually have at least 20-30 minutes (longer if you're transferring to another shuttle) so you have time to go to the BCR atm machine, a little souvenir shop in the back & or to get a bite at one of the restaurants right there - Restaurante Mi Finca, Soda la Esquina Del Sabor or Mirador El Angel Restaurant.
Catty corner is Tres Hermanas BBQ & a Pop's Ice Cream (MY FAV there is their Coconut [but you don't come to Costa Rica for ice cream]) & a Delta gas station (note if you're driving, gas prices are regulated to they're the same everywhere).
Just down the road a bit (South) is a little strip mall with a Subway, nice size in the middle of nowhere market with just about everything you could need for not bad prices (including lots of veggies, meat+), a juice bar & a pharmacy.
But the COOLEST SURPRISE to me that I hadn't noticed any of the times I'd stopped there before were the BIG BEAUTIFUL LAPAS • SCARLET MACAW birds up in the trees - just hanging out above your head!
The only way I noticed it was when I was walking back from SUBWAY on a side dirt road when I noticed some huge Lapas•scarlet Macaw statues & I heard the squawking & it looked like some sort of sanctuary but I couldn't see any type of entrance & I ended up in the back of the main area where Mi Finca was & there were LOTS of people standing around looking up & taking pictures.
