CHARITY IDEAS - People Helping Each Other - We're ALL in this world TOGETHER
AWESOME CONSCIOUSNESS to help a "brother" out - though I'd make these kind of project for families that are struggling as well as the Homeless.
CREATE A LITTLE PANTRY where people could drop off various things.
I think IDEALLY it would be best to put them in front of your church or a park or close to a market so people could pick up something(S) extra & drop it off with ease (you might not want to do this in front of your house as you might get people knocking on your doors at all hours seeking a handout). I'd also tape to it a list of "Most Important Basic Suggested Items" that a homeless or family in need could use.

Does your tree, garden have an over abundance of fruits or veggies? How about just randomly leaving a bag of them out front or in a park or on the street corner with a sign that says "FREE!! Enjoy a mango"!!!

To those that are more worried about SOME people taking advantage of it, sure some will but MORE WILL be HELPED by it!!
TO potentially combat abuse, I'd put it in a well lit public place where "those abuser type of people" action would be seen.
It's SOOOO PATHETIC how in the U.S. MANY of these types of projects that bring people TOGETHER & HELPING EACH OTHER are being banned!!!
Hey - THEIR KARMA WILL come back to bite them where it counts when THEY'RE in need!

Do you REALLY NEED more shit for your b'day?? How about doing a Fundraising drive to collect money from your friends instead of presents (MOST of which you probably won't use for long if ever) & gift it to some cause that touches your heart!!
Here's another AWESOME thing to consider starting in your business!! Remember the Pizzeria in Philadelphia that invitee customers to "Pay it Forward" by pre-purchasing $1 slices of pizza for homeless patrons. Not only has that program gone CRAZY with business but OTHER projects have come from it!!

If you have a nice yard or nice size - how about putting a bench there as sometimes people just need to escape the craziness of their home or job for a little bit.
