BRENDA - Batman & Odie
It's with a heaviness (yet lightness) in my heart that I report that Batman did not make it & we put him out of his suffering tonight. Last Wednesday night his mom & I returned home from 2 hours shopping to find he had once again (his 4th time doing this. What happens when a dog licks a sapo•toad, it excretes a poison from it's poison sacks on the top of their heads which makes the dog hallucinate - gives them a high that they OFTEN become addicted to - hence they keep going back for more. People living in Costa Rica, be forewarned, these innocent looking [though UGLY] things can be LETHAL!! Had it happened to his 10 pound brother Odie - he could have been dead in 15 or so minutes).
His family give it their all & the people at the animal hospital tried as hard as they could but they say that had we arrived home maybe 10 minutes later he could have been gone. What a week of ups & downs with him doing better, then worse, then better, then worse - spending 2-5 hours at the hospital with him - but I feel blessed to have had the time to spend MANY hours with him giving him his FAVORITE "Vicki Massages" & LOTS of positive words/reinforcement in the end.
Out of all the animals I have had, lived with, Pet Sat for, he's the one I've had THE MOST special bond with (you can see in these pictures)!
I feel so honored to have been holding him as he took his last breath & still massaging him & giving him some lavender oil to help calm him. I'm blessed to believe in the after-life & reincarnation & I KNOW that EVERYONE that's EVER touched my heart - human or pets, for 1 hour or 50+ years - will ALWAYS hold a place in my heart & their Spirit will ALWAYS be there for me to call upon if/when I "need it"! I'm gonna miss you my Batman Buddy (though not your bed hogging & needing to be SOOOO close to me that sometimes MY body parts were hanging off!!]).
Batman came into my life 10 months ago at my friend (& base in between my Pet & House Sitting gigs & her in-house pet lover & trainer) Brenda's. We had a rocky start at first because I forgot they had the new guard dog & I did my normal bold running towards a friend that was at their home that I hadn't seen her in years STRONG energy hug & he actually bit me (thinking I was attacking her) & it took 3 months of him having that memory before I could feed him (an introduction to I was ok) but once I was able to get my hands on him & give him a "Vicki Massage" - he was MINE (typical!) as you can see in these pictures!
In Batman's honor I WILL find people to help me educate people on how potentially HORRIFICALLY DANGEROUS these Sapo•Toads are to your dogs!!! Your passing will NOT be in vain!!! (December 20 I FINALLY caught the sapo & lets just say, he won't be killing anyone else again!!!!!)
I & Batman's family want to THANK ALL OF YOU that shared energy, prayers, visualizations as I tell you, the times I'd post asking for prayers, etc., I SWEAR THOSE were the times he was making POSITIVE strides so I KNOW they made a BIG DIFFERENCE!! It's just his kidney's were too far gone!! BIG HUGS to y'all!!

Dear Batman,
Even though I only knew you for a snip-it in time,
I feel as though you I know your heart, as you have touched mine.
Your struggles were known from one country to another,
Many of us felt as though we were your mother.
Kind word words were shared and prayers were said,
You were lifted up as tears were shed.
From this world you were gently eased,
And we will miss your smiling face,
But you have left your mark, not in vain
Through you humor style and grace.
You fought a good fight
We were with you to the end,
But we know you'll be running free
On the other side my friend.
So run and play in peace dear boy
Play with buddies and share your toys
Swim in streams
And roll on lawns
We will miss your joy
now that it's gone.
